Richard Sanders

Rich is the founding pastor of Online Home Church in the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta, which has met weekly online since the pandemic shutdown in March 2020. He has also served at four other parishes in the Atlanta area. He earned his Master’s of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 2015.

Rich recently wrote his first book, The Christian Capitalist, which became an Amazon #1 Best Seller on its launch day! In it, he encourages people at all levels of the economy to work hard and give generously to the poor and needy in the name of Jesus Christ. As part of this process, Rich started a media company called GoodWorks Mission, which publishes Christian inspirational books and other materials to lead people to love their neighbors and experience a closer walk with God. GoodWorks Mission’s second book, You Are a Child of God, reached #1 Best Seller status on Amazon in December 2024.

Rich follows a bi-vocational calling, so he serves in ministry and in business. As the retired President of Southern Health Lawyers, he practiced law for nearly thirty years. He represented a variety of healthcare providers on a broad range of issues, including business transactions and regulatory advice. He has been named annually to The Best Lawyers in America- Healthcare since 2011, and he is a past president of the Georgia Academy of Healthcare Attorneys.

After graduating from Duke University in 1992 with a double-major in political science and history, Rich earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Emory University School of Law in 1996. He served on the adjunct faculty at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and taught courses in business and regulatory law, and he was awarded Professor of the Year in 2004 and 2023. Rich is also a former intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy, where he worked with an Atlanta-based unit supporting the U.S. Sixth Fleet in Naples, Italy.

Rich is the founder of St. Michael’s Mission, Inc., a ministry organized to assist and serve active duty and veterans of the armed services. He is a retired volunteer chaplain at the Interfaith Airport Chapel at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and served as President of the Board of Directors from 2017 until 2023.

He and his wife Rebekah live in Destin, Florida and have three children: Jay (2000), Will (2002) and Caroline (2005). Rich and Rebekah met at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta in 1996 and were married at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Jackson, Mississippi in 1998. They now share the empty nest with their giant Golden Retriever, Cowboy!
